Description

A hearty and simple Amish-inspired hamburger steak bake with a rich gravy.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Shape into 4 equal-sized patties.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown patties on both sides.
  5. Transfer patties to a baking dish.
  6. Mix soup, milk, and Worcestershire sauce and pour over the patties.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until cooked through.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef for less grease.
  • Substitute cream of chicken soup if preferred.
  • Add sliced mushrooms for extra flavor.
