Ingredients
- 6 cups sliced cucumbers
- 2 cups sliced onions
- 1/4 cup salt
- 2 cups white vinegar
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
Instructions
- Combine cucumbers, onions, and salt in a large bowl. Cover with ice and let stand for 3 hours.
- Drain and rinse the cucumber mixture.
- In a large pot, combine vinegar, sugar, mustard seeds, celery seeds, and turmeric. Bring to a boil.
- Add the cucumber mixture and return to a boil.
- Pack the hot pickles into sterilized jars and seal.
Notes
- Use fresh cucumbers for best results.
- Store sealed jars in a cool, dark place.
- Refrigerate after opening.
