Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and boils.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute, still stirring.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped chocolate until melted.
- Add vanilla extract and butter, mixing until smooth.
- Pour into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
