Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 head garlic, roasted
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Cut the top off the garlic head, drizzle with oil, wrap in foil, and roast for 30 minutes.
  2. Boil potatoes until soft, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash.
  3. Squeeze roasted garlic into mashed potatoes. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until creamy.
  4. Cook sausage in a pan over medium heat until browned. Stir in flour.
  5. Gradually add chicken broth while stirring. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  6. Season gravy with thyme. Serve mashed potatoes topped with sausage gravy.
