Crispy mozzarella sticks made in an air-fryer for a healthier twist on the classic appetizer.
Ingredients
- 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Cut each mozzarella stick in half.
- Place flour in a shallow bowl.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Roll each mozzarella piece in flour, then dip in egg, and coat with breadcrumb mixture.
- Repeat the coating process for extra crispiness.
- Place sticks in the air-fryer basket in a single layer.
- Lightly spray with cooking oil.
- Air-fry at 400°F for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
Notes
- Freeze the coated sticks for 20 minutes before air-frying for better texture.
- Use low-moisture mozzarella to prevent melting too quickly.
