Description
A quick and tasty dish featuring ground beef and orzo pasta in a rich tomato cream sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, and oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add orzo and 2 cups of water. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour in heavy cream and stir until well combined.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
- Substitute half-and-half for heavy cream if desired.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for extra heat.
