Description

A quick and tasty dish featuring ground beef and orzo pasta in a rich tomato cream sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, and oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Add orzo and 2 cups of water. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Pour in heavy cream and stir until well combined.
  8. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
