A homemade California crunch roll sushi recipe that combines fresh ingredients with a crispy texture.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 nori sheets
- 1/2 lb imitation crab meat
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1/2 cup tempura flakes
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sriracha (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Cook the rice with water in a rice cooker or pot until tender.
- Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl, then fold into the cooked rice.
- Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, spread a thin layer of rice evenly over it.
- Sprinkle tempura flakes and sesame seeds over the rice.
- Flip the nori sheet so the rice faces down, then place crab meat, avocado, and cucumber in the center.
- Roll tightly using the bamboo mat, then slice into pieces.
- Serve with soy sauce and sriracha if desired.
