Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a bowl.
  3. Add oil, buttermilk, eggs, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. Stir in vinegar until just combined.
  5. Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Cool cakes completely before frosting.
