Description
Shakshuka is a simple dish of eggs poached in a flavorful tomato sauce. It’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp chili flakes
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 4 eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and bell pepper. Cook until soft.
- Stir in garlic, cumin, paprika, and chili flakes. Cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Make small wells in the sauce and crack eggs into them.
- Cover and cook until eggs are set (5-7 minutes).
- Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
- Use fresh tomatoes if preferred.
- Adjust chili flakes to your spice preference.
- Serve with crusty bread or pita.
