Description

Shakshuka is a simple dish of eggs poached in a flavorful tomato sauce. It’s easy to make and perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and bell pepper. Cook until soft.
  3. Stir in garlic, cumin, paprika, and chili flakes. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Make small wells in the sauce and crack eggs into them.
  6. Cover and cook until eggs are set (5-7 minutes).
  7. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • Use fresh tomatoes if preferred.
  • Adjust chili flakes to your spice preference.
