Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup sweet potato starch
  • 1 cup neutral oil for frying
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional)


Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken with garlic, soy sauce, rice wine, five-spice powder, white pepper, and sugar for 30 minutes.
  2. Coat each piece evenly with sweet potato starch.
  3. Heat oil to 180°C (350°F) in a deep pan.
  4. Fry chicken in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Sprinkle with salt and chili powder before serving.
